Job Description

The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a Data Analyst to participate in research projects that aim to explore strategies to optimize prescribing and medication decisions for patients in the hospital and at home. The Data Analyst will work primarily with Dr. Timothy Anderson and be a core staff member of the Prescribing Wisely Lab, with additional membership in the Caring for Complex Chronic Conditions Research Center, and Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing (CP3). The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing analytic datasets from administrative healthcare databases, such as UPMC electronic health records, the Veterans Health Affairs Clinical Data Warehouse, Medicare and Medicaid claims, and existing NIH funded prospective cohort datasets. This includes translating written research protocols to computer programming code, implementing the code, and conducting data quality assurance checks to verify the research protocols were applied.
