Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Cohesity Resident Engineer to provide hands-on, expert-level support for their enterprise data protection environment. This is a remote, long-term contract engagement (7+ months) requiring strong AWS experience and familiarity with Fort Knox immutable backup environments. The ideal candidate brings deep Cohesity platform expertise and a consultative approach to operationalizing backup, recovery, and data management at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the dedicated Cohesity subject matter expert embedded with the client’s infrastructure and security teams
  • Design, implement, and optimize Cohesity DataProtect and DataManage configurations across hybrid environments
  • Troubleshoot backup failures, replication issues, and recovery bottlenecks; coordinate with Cohesity TAC as needed
  • Lead cluster health assessments, capacity planning, and upgrade planning for Cohesity environments
  • Develop and enforce data protection policies aligned with client RTO/RPO requirements
  • Integrate Cohesity with AWS cloud workloads for backup, archival, and disaster recovery scenarios
  • Maintain Fort Knox immutable backup configurations and ensure compliance with client security standards
  • Produce runbooks, architecture documentation, and knowledge transfer materials for client teams
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, security, and compliance to align data protection posture with business requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of enterprise data protection engineering experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on Cohesity platform administration (DataProtect, DataManage, SmartFiles)
  • Demonstrated experience with Cohesity cluster deployment, configuration, and tuning
  • Experience with Fort Knox immutable backup configurations strongly preferred
  • AWS experience — working knowledge of S3, EC2, and cloud-based backup/archival integrations
  • Strong understanding of backup architectures including incremental forever, deduplication, and replication
  • Proficiency with VMware, Linux, and Windows workload protection via Cohesity
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and failover testing in enterprise environments
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cohesity Certified Administrator (CCA) or equivalent certification
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
  • Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government)
  • Familiarity with Helios for multi-cluster management and reporting
  • Prior resident engineer or embedded consultant experience
