Job Description
Our client, an innovative company at the cutting edge of electric propulsion technology, requires a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join its dynamic team todevelop, improve, and support the operations manufacturing processes and equipment to enable volume production of its products to customers.
This is a contract role outside IR35.
Responsibilities:
Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
Supporting manufacturing demand by relieving bottlenecks and problem-solving production constraints; attending breakdowns and reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams
Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends
Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturers instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
Requirements:
- A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Experience working within an automotive or aerospace Tier 1 in a manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of continuous improvement methods and lean techniques
- Familiar with process techniques and documentation such as FMEAs, process flows, work instructions, control plans etc.
- Hands-on experience with bespoke equipment, tooling, and automation
- Good understanding of design for assembly and manufacturing constraints for high-volume manufacture
- Confident with both internal and external customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
