Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end technical solutions aligned with business and service needs.
- Translate business requirements into architecture designs and implementation plans.
- Ensure solutions comply with public sector standards (e.g. security, accessibility, data governance).
- Work with delivery teams, developers, BAs, and infrastructure teams.
- Define integration patterns across legacy and modern systems.
- Support cloud migration and digital transformation programmes.
- Produce architecture artefacts (HLDs, LLDs, roadmaps, diagrams).
- Ensure scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Manage technical risks and dependencies.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and suppliers.
Key Skills / Experience
- Strong architecture frameworks knowledge (e.g. TOGAF).
- Experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- API and integration design (REST, microservices, event-driven architecture).
- Security architecture and IAM knowledge.
- Data architecture understanding.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Legacy modernisation.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Stakeholder engagement at all levels.
Public Sector-Specific Experience (important)
Usually they look for:
- Experience working within UK government frameworks (e.g. GDS standards).
