Job Description

At BNY, our culture allows us to run our company better and enables employees’ growth and success. As a leading global financial services company at the heart of the global financial system, we influence nearly 20% of the world’s investible assets. Every day, our teams harness cutting-edge AI and breakthrough technologies to collaborate with clients, driving transformative solutions that redefine industries and uplift communities worldwide.

Recognized as a top destination for innovators, BNY is where bold ideas meet advanced technology and exceptional talent. Together, we power the future of finance – and this is what #LifeAtBNY is all about. Join us and be part of something extraordinary.

We are seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Specialist, Fund Reporting - Regulatory and Financial Reporting Oversight, to join our Fund Administration team. This role will be located in Frankfurt, Germany.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways

  • Perform operational oversight of regulatory and financial reporting produced by international internal teams and external service providers for German investment funds, ensuring completeness, accuracy, timeliness and appropriate evidence of review.
  • Review recurring German and European reporting deliverables, including EMIR and SFTR transaction reporting, AWV reporting, ECB investment-fund statistics and BVI statistics, as well as client-specific reporting such as VAG, Solvency II TPT, CRR and PRIIPs where applicable.
  • Perform plausibility checks, period-on-period variance analysis, reconciliations and risk-based spot checks between accounting, transaction, position, counterparty and reference-data sources and the resulting reports.
  • Verify adherence to reporting calendars, statutory and contractual deadlines, four-eyes controls, submission requirements and agreed distribution channels, and follow up missing inputs, rejected reports and late deliverables.
  • Investigate data-quality issues and reporting exceptions, coordinate corrections and resubmissions, and maintain clear documentation of root cause, impact, ownership and resolution. Escalte material, recurring or non-standard matters appropriately.
  • Monitor reporting acknowledgements, validation feedback and reconciliation results from regulators, trade repositories, clients and other recipients, ensuring that breaks and error messages are addressed promptly.
  • Support the preparation, review, audit coordination, publication and distribution of semi-annual and annual fund reports in accordance with German fund documentation and applicable reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with Fund Accounting, Securities Data Management, Risk Controlling, Tax, Depositary, Custody, Technology, Compliance, Product, auditors, clients and international production teams to resolve reporting dependencies and maintain consistent data lineage.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following:

German regulatory and financial reporting expertise

  • Good practical knowledge of regulatory reporting in a German KVG or fund-administration environment and the associated control expectations under the KAGB and relevant European requirements.
  • Experience with several relevant reporting regimes, such as EMIR, SFTR, AWV, ECB investment-fund statistics, BVI statistics, VAG, Solvency II TPT, CRR, PRIIPs or AIFMD reporting, depending on the supported fund and client scope.
  • Understanding of the data required for regulatory reports, including positions, transactions, derivatives, counterparties, classifications, issuers, valuations and fund master data, and the ability to trace reported values back to source information.
  • Familiarity with semi-annual and annual fund reporting processes, including reporting schedules, data collection, review cycles, coordination with clients and external auditors, publication and distribution.

Oversight, controls and issue management

  • Experience reviewing reporting deliverables prepared by another team or service provider and assessing whether controls and supporting evidence are complete, accurate and performed on time.
  • Ability to perform reconciliations, logical and analytical checks and risk-based spot checks, including investigation of significant changes, missing populations, duplicate records, incorrect counterparty or asset classifications and source-system differences.
  • Experience coordinating corrections and resubmissions following validation errors, recipient feedback or identified data issues, with clear audit trail and timely escalation of material matters.

Professional capabilities

  • At least three years of relevant experience in regulatory reporting, financial reporting, fund administration, fund accounting, investment operations, audit or a comparable financial-services environment.
  • Strong analytical judgement, attention to detail and a control-focused approach, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and distinguish routine exceptions from matters requiring senior escalation.
  • Ability to work independently within defined responsibilities and collaborate effectively with international production teams, external service providers and specialist functions.
  • Very good written and spoken German and English are required for regulatory documentation, stakeholder communication and cooperation across locations.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with reporting platforms, XML-based submissions, data-quality tools, workflow solutions or automation is an advantage.
