Job Summary

In this contingent resource assignment, you will consult on complex initiatives involving large-scale planning and architecture for Specialty Software Engineering. As the technical lead within the Google Cloud Platform Data Platform organization, you will design, develop, deploy, and support foundational data platform products that enable enterprise data management, analytics, and cloud adoption.

This role requires hands-on expertise in cloud-native data engineering, distributed systems, platform architecture, automation, and operational reliability. The consultant will provide engineering direction, mentor development teams, establish technical standards, and collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Platform Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Cloud Data Platform Engineering

• Lead the design, architecture, development, testing, and deployment of strategic data-platform products on Google Cloud Platform
• Build and support enterprise-scale cloud data platforms, data lakes, and analytics capabilities
• Design solutions that are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards
• Optimize cloud infrastructure, performance, reliability, and operating costs
• Establish technical patterns for shared platform capabilities

Data Integration and Processing

• Design and implement:
  • Data Ingestion
  • ETL/ELT Pipelines
  • Batch Processing
  • Streaming Data Processing
  • Change Data Capture
  • Data Movement Solutions
  • Metadata Management
• Support high-volume and distributed data-processing workloads
• Build reusable platform services and integration components
• Address late-arriving data, data quality, reconciliation, and operational reliability

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams
• Lead design reviews and architecture discussions
• Establish engineering standards, design practices, and development patterns
• Guide teams from requirements through production deployment and operational support
• Influence platform strategy and engineering direction across multiple teams
• Promote secure, maintainable, and high-quality software development

Enterprise Architecture

• Provide architectural guidance for foundational platform products
• Partner with enterprise architects on technical roadmaps
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical adoption approaches
• Design APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Ensure solutions support enterprise data governance, security, and compliance requirements

Automation, Reliability, and Operations

• Improve automation, observability, resiliency, and disaster recovery
• Implement infrastructure and deployment automation using Infrastructure as Code
• Participate in production support and incident management
• Lead root-cause analysis and remediation
• Drive continuous improvement in:
