Senior Java / Spring AI Developer (Model Context Protocol & Agentic AI)

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Java / Spring AI Developer for a 12+ month contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington, NJ.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between traditional enterprise Java architectures and cutting-edge Agentic AI workflows. You will architect, build, and scale backend services and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that securely connect Large Language Models (LLMs) to internal microservices, databases, and enterprise data stores.
Responsibilities:

• Design & Build MCP Servers: Develop and maintain secure Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers using Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring AI framework to expose business logic and enterprise data as agent tools
• Integrate AI & LLM Workflows: Implement robust tool-calling mechanisms, schema definitions using Java records, and structured JSON payload handling to support autonomous multi-step AI agents
• Microservices & API Architecture: Build high-performance backend systems using Java, integrating with cloud infrastructure (such as Amazon EKS), databases, and REST/gRPC endpoints
• Security & Governance: Implement enterprise-grade security controls, role-based access control (RBAC), and least-privilege IAM policies for AI agent interactions and cross-service communications
• Performance & Reliability: Optimize latency, memory management, and asynchronous data processing pipelines for real-time AI tool execution

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience using Java (JDK 17+) and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with modern API protocols (REST, gRPC, JSON-RPC)
• Familiarity with Spring AI, LLM provider APIs, and vector databases or RAG architectures
• Solid understanding of agentic design patterns, function/tool calling, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) specifications
• Experience containerizing applications with Docker and deploying/managing workloads on Kubernetes / Amazon EKS
• Proficient in SQL/NoSQL databases, JPA/Hibernate, and data serialization (JSON, Protobuf)

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
