Job Description
The Manager, Field Applications Engineering leads the Southwest FAE team supporting strategic customers, channel partners, and regional growth objectives. The role aligns technical resources to priority opportunities, drives design-win execution, and enables long-term customer success.
This player-coach leader provides hands-on technical and business leadership for a senior field applications team, while directly supporting priority customer engagements and serving as a key interface across customers, sales, business units, applications teams, and leadership. Success requires strong people leadership, technical judgment, business acumen, and the ability to convert customer needs into business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
· Team leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the Southwest FAE team; set priorities, deployment plans, performance expectations, and development goals.
· Customer engagement: Build executive and engineering relationships with strategic customers; support pre-sales, design-in, post-design engagements, reviews, and escalations.
· Business growth: Partner with sales to prioritize opportunities, drive design wins, improve funnel quality, and support revenue conversion.
· Cross-functional alignment: Represent customer needs, field feedback, product gaps, and competitive threats to product, marketing, sales, applications, and business unit teams.
· Operational discipline: Establish metrics, reporting, CRM hygiene, escalation management, resource planning, and consistent field execution.
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
· 10+ years in semiconductors, embedded systems, FAE, applications engineering, or technical sales.
· 3+ years of people leadership, technical leadership, or management experience.
· Working knowledge of MCUs, MPUs, embedded software, connectivity, power, or system design.
· Experience supporting strategic OEM customers and channel partners.
· Strong executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder-influence skills.
· Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
Preferred
· Experience leading distributed technical teams.
· Familiarity with general Renesas Products, with Digital emphasis
· Experience in industrial, medical, automotive, aerospace, defense, or robotics markets.
· Track record of design-win growth, revenue expansion, and customer adoption.
