Job Description

Overview

The Senior Project Manager at HCL will manage project and program delivery using Agile methodology. They will oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring completion within scope, budget and timeline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Planning & Delivery: Own and maintain the overarching Program Plan, including an integrated plan spanning the target operating model, business case, product development, implementation activities and delivery timelines.
  • Requirements, Design and Deliverables Alignment: Ensure alignment between business requirements, functional designs and program deliverables, with clear visibility of dependencies and interdependencies across the wider change portfolio.
  • Coordination: Act as the central coordination point for workstream leads, consolidating inputs into a cohesive and deliverable end-to-end plan.
  • Target Operating Model (TOM) Oversight: Provide oversight and integration of the Target Operating Model, ensuring alignment with program objectives, timelines and dependencies.
  • Cross-Workstream Collaboration: Work with the Operations Manager (Australia) to ensure a cohesive approach across all workstreams and ensure all capability models and e-toe processes are clearly documented and approved.
  • Product Readiness: Collaborate with underwriting, claims and other core functions to ensure products are clearly defined and operationally supportable at go-live.
  • Stakeholder & Sponsor Engagement: Partner with the Program Sponsor and key stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and delivery against objectives; maintain regular engagement with stakeholders across GSI, Great Lakes and IT to align delivery plans with business timelines.
  • Communications: Establish and deliver a robust communications plan to inform, align and engage stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Governance, Risk & Controls: Design, implement and own a governance framework; proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, change requests, milestones and budget.
  • Risk Management: Identify, document and mitigate program risks and dependencies; ensure escalation and resolution of conflicts with a culture of integrity and collaboration.
  • Cross-Portfolio Alignment: Engage with Change Portfolio stakeholders to identify cross-project dependencies, define ownership and deliverables; ensure alignment with the wider strategic change agenda.
  • Delivery Oversight & Resourcing: Lead and oversee program resources (e.g., Project Managers and Business Analysts); establish effective operating rhythm and governance across UK and Australia.
  • Team Coordination: Establish effective ways of working across geographically dispersed teams, clarifying roles, responsibilities and accountability.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party providers, IT and Procurement to ensure vendors deliver per contractual obligations and statements of work.
  • Regional Delivery Alignment (Australia): Work with the Program Sponsor and Operations Manager in Australia to keep strategies current and deliverables on track.
Qualifications
  • Significant and demonstrable Program Management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian insurance market and other markets, including working with regulatory bodies.
  • Understanding of business strategy and expansion planning at a global level.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive decision making at an Executive level.
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders at an Executive level.
  • Strong understanding of Regulatory Compliance across Insurance.
  • Proven understanding of Project Management Methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches).
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change.
  • Ability to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail; simplify complexity and communicate with clarity.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills; resilience and adaptability to business change.
  • Ability to tailor communication approaches for different stakeholders and clients; thrive in an environment of constant change.
  • Knowledge of business analysis techniques and processes.
  • Understanding of Data Security and Privacy across Insurance products.
  • Experience working across Global Change and Transformation; experience within the APAC region.
  • Education: University Degree or relevant professional qualification, or demonstrable industry experience.
Other Requirements
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) is a plus.
