Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: North East England<br />Contract: Minimum 6 Months (Potential Extension)<br />Rate: £40.00 - £45.00 per hour (DOE) An established engineering business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of bespoke engineering projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing innovative and practical design solutions from concept through to manufacture. Working closely with project, production, and engineering teams, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineered products to customer specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for bespoke engineering projects.
• Support projects from concept through design, development, and manufacture.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
• Carry out design calculations, material selection, and engineering analysis where required.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and customer specifications. Requirements
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of fabrication, machining, and general manufacturing processes.
• HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team. What's on Offer
