Europe Economist - Germany - Octavius Finance

Octavius Finance is working with an established German asset manager looking to hire a Europe Economist into its Investment Research and Economics team.

This is an opportunity for an economist with approximately 2 to 5 years of experience to join a respected investment management firm and contribute to its European economic research.

The role will focus on analysing economic developments across Europe, producing forecasts and providing insights into how economic trends influence financial markets and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct economic research across European economies, particularly Germany and the Eurozone.

• Analyse inflation, GDP growth, interest rates, monetary policy and labour market developments.

• Develop and maintain economic forecasts and models.

• Monitor European Central Bank decisions and key economic data releases.

• Produce research reports and commentary on European economic developments.

• Assess how economic and geopolitical developments affect financial markets.

• Work closely with the wider research and investment teams to provide economic insights.

• Present research findings and economic views to internal stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in macroeconomic research or a similar economist position.

• Background within an asset manager, investment bank, central bank, economic consultancy or research institution.

• Strong understanding of European economies, inflation, monetary policy and economic forecasting.

• Experience working with economic data and developing forecasting models.

• Good understanding of financial markets and how macroeconomic developments influence investments.

• Strong analytical skills, ideally with experience using Python, R, Stata or similar tools.

• Degree in Economics, Finance or a related discipline, ideally with a Master's degree.

• Fluent German and English are essential.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain economic developments clearly.
