Job Description
Mechanical Engineer Carrickfergus Are you a time-served Mechanical Engineer, Vehicle Mechanic, HGV Mechanic, Plant Fitter or Engine Builder looking for your next challenge? We're recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join the Die Maintenance team in a leading manufacturing business. This is a hands-on mechanical role where you'll strip, inspect, repair and rebuild precision tooling used in the production process. If you enjoy rebuilding engines, working to fine tolerances and taking pride in precision mechanical work, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a world-class manufacturing environment. The Role You'll be responsible for maintaining and servicing die casting tooling, ensuring equipment is operating efficiently and production downtime is kept to a minimum. Key Responsibilities Strip, inspect and rebuild die casting tools Replace worn and damaged components Assemble tooling to fine tolerances Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing Respond to tooling breakdowns on production equipment Complete maintenance documentation accurately Carry out basic TIG and stick welding where required Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance What We're Looking For Essential Time-served Mechanical Engineer, Vehicle Mechanic, HGV Mechanic, Plant Fitter or similar NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline Strong mechanical aptitude with experience stripping and rebuilding mechanical assemblies or engines Ability to work accurately and methodically Basic computer skills Previous die maintenance experience is not essential - full training will be provided. Working Hours You'll initially work days (38 hours per week) during your training period (typically 6-12 months). Following training, you'll move onto the department's shift pattern, which may include: 24/6 rotating shifts (36% shift premium) 24/7 rotating shifts (36% shift premium) 3-shift rotation (22% shift premium) What's On Offer?
