Job Description

Due to continued growth in demand for our expertise, we have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our experienced and talented Engineering team in our Winchester office.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer looking to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse range of projects across sectors including education, commercial, retail, industrial and leisure.

At Ridge, you will be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, gaining exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients. As a Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for designing systems that enable buildings to perform efficiently, sustainably and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a design team delivering detailed mechanical building services designs
  • Liaise closely with internal and external project teams, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors and contractors
  • Attend project group and technical meetings
  • Ensure designs comply with current legislation and health and safety requirements
  • Advise clients and design teams on energy use, sustainability and carbon reduction strategies
  • Design site-specific mechanical systems and equipment
  • Oversee and support the installation of building services systems
  • Specify maintenance and operational requirements for completed designs
  • Use industry-standard software such as CAD and BIM (Revit) to develop designs
  • Carry out condition surveys and produce technical reports with recommendations

About You:

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, motivated and keen to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

You will have:

  • An accredited degree (or higher qualification) in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in a similar Mechanical Design role
  • Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to clients and project teams
  • A proactive and organised approach, with strong attention to detail
  • Ambition and a willingness to learn and develop

Experience with industry-standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD and Revit would be beneficial.
