Business Reporter

• Flexible Location (Sydney or Melbourne strongly preferred)
• Produce stories for Digital, TV, audio & social media
• Base salary $105K-$128K plus penalties/overtime and 15.4% ABC nominated super

The Role

The ABC is looking for a Business Reporter to research, write, produce and present sharp, accurate stories on complex topics across radio, TV, digital and social. You'll help set the agenda on what matters to Australians around their finances and the broader economy.

The Job

• Generate stories that appeal to a wide range of Australians and reflect the country's cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity.
• Use a strong contact network to develop original stories and aim to increase the number of prominent, original stories in state and national bulletins.
• Proactively discuss story ideas with the Business Editor, Digital Lead, Video Supervising Producer and other reporters.
• Research story material, identify suitable sources, and arrange and conduct interviews.
• Research, write, produce and present clear, accurate and concise stories across radio, TV, digital and social media to meet bulletin deadlines and ABC editorial standards.
• Record, transfer, mix, edit and dub audio for complex stories from local and remote locations to ABC quality standards.
• Present news bulletins, live-to-air reports and complex live Q&A.
• Use desktop editing software to support craft editors with complex video stories and CoreMedia WCMS to produce digital stories to a high standard.
• Handle public enquiries, suggestions and complaints and maintain the office diary and contact system.
• Ensure programs meet Editorial Policies, SCOSE

About You

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
• Advanced reporting and presenting skills with engaging cross-platform content creation
• Strong editorial judgement and information analysis abilities
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of local/global economic, financial and corporate issues
• Passion for issues affecting local and national audiences
• Proven teamwork and stakeholder relationship-building skills
• Established contacts across the Australian community
• Commitment to authentic, diverse content including cultural and Indigenous perspectives
