Job Description

Scope of Work/Job Characteristics
The Enterprise Systems Administrator shall serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Department. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
  • Develop and maintain processes that optimize Microsoft Azure resources;
  • Analyse Azure resource performance to identify resource contention and recommend changes or upgrades as needed to ensure optimization;
  • Perform Microsoft Azure Entra ID and Active Directory management activities.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain processes that optimize Amazon Web Services (AWS) and resources;
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, standards, procedures, and system documentation;;
  • Administer and configure Azure and AWS infrastructure security as needed for OIT staff and users;
  • Assist Azure and AWS application owners, administrators, and users with appropriate application access;
  • Work with data center staff, OIT, and users to perform resource deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes;
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve Windows server issues with minimal impact on users;
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve Linux server issues with minimal impact on users;
  • Write PowerShell scripts to be used to monitor server properties and perform Active Directory and Azure management activities.
  • Research and recommend appropriate technical solutions to meet functional requirements;
  • Provide recommendations for possible process improvements within the Department’s infrastructure team;
  • Create schedules for the development and implementation of specific software systems; and
  • Perform additional Systems Administrator tasks as required by the Department.
 Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or four (4) years of equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of Windows server administration experience with three (3) years administering Windows 2016 and newer;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Microsoft Azure and Cloud experience;
  • A minimum of two (2) years of AWS experience;
  • A minimum of five (5) years administering Active Directory, Domain Name System (DNS), and Group Policy in environments with over 1,000 users;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Linux server management experience;
  • Demonstrated experience writing, testing, and executing PowerShell scripts;
  • Experience working in virtual server and Cloud environments; and
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and supporting third-party applications
