About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and curious GIS Analyst to join Nottingham City Council's Housing Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to use geographic information, data analysis and digital mapping to help shape housing services and support informed decision-making across the Council.
The role will support a range of workstreams across Housing Services, whether that be providing location based spatial analysis in support of service planning, or by managing digital spatial datasets. If you have a passion for data and information and want to use your analytical and GIS skills to bring it to life and help make a difference to housing in Nottingham, then this role is for you.
In this role, you will collect, manage and analyse a range of spatial and non-spatial data relating to housing land, property assets and service delivery. Using GIS, Power BI and other analytical tools, you will create maps, visualisations, reports and web-based solutions that turn complex information into clear insights for colleagues and stakeholders.
Working closely with Housing Services teams, the Corporate GIS Team and other Council departments, you will help ensure data quality, maintain digital spatial datasets, and promote the effective use of GIS across the organisation. You will also contribute to service improvement, support evidence-based planning, and stay up to date with developments in housing policy, legislation and GIS technology.
We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences who share our commitment to equality and inclusion. If you enjoy using data to solve problems and make a positive difference to communities, we would love to hear from you.
About You
The ideal candidate will have the skills to:
1. Collect, cleanse and manage spatial data, particularly relating to housing land and property assets, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.2. Manipulate, model, analyse and interpret data from a range of sources to support the delivery of key priorities and services for Housing Services.
3. Produce accurate paper and digital maps, web applications and related GIS products and services as needed to support operational teams responsible for the Council's housing and associated housing land.
4. Ensure that regulations and procedures relating to the creation, storage, processing and sharing of digital data are observed, collaborating with the Corporate GIS Team as required.
5. Produce reports and research information from housing related data sources, using tools such as Business Objects and Power BI to help Housing Services analyse information geographically to help inform decision making.
Please ensure you demonstrate clearly how you meet the 5 requirements in your CV & supporting document.
We recognise that artificial intelligence (AI) can be a helpful tool when preparing your application. AI can guide you, but only your own words and experiences truly matter – we want to see the real you. All examples and statements must be your own, accurate, and reflect your true experience and values. AI tools do not understand context, think critically, or assess the reliability of information, which means AI-generated responses can feel generic and may not accurately represent who you are. We recruit fairly and inclusively – showing your real self is what helps you succeed.
Closing Date: 15 November 2026 (11:59pm) - Please note there may be occasions where we close the advert before the closing date, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
Interview date: w/c 30th November 2026 – Please note, this is subject to change.
We bring together talent, celebrate diversity, and create lasting value for the communities we serve. As a fair and inclusive employer, we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and abilities.
We welcome applications from candidates who already have the right to work in the UK. Please note that we are currently unable to provide visa sponsorship.
