VP Senior Commercial Credit Underwriter

The Senior Commercial Credit Underwriter (VP level) underwrites complex commercial loans, including real estate, C&I, leveraged finance, and asset-based facilities. This role analyzes cash flow, collateral, and borrower performance, prepares clear credit recommendations, and supports relationship managers with structuring and portfolio monitoring. It also reviews ongoing financials and borrowing bases, contributes to loan committee discussions, and helps coach junior credit staff.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex commercial credit requests including CRE, C&I, leveraged finance, and tax credit transactions
• Perform detailed cash flow, financial statement, collateral, and borrowing base analysis to assess credit risk
• Prepare clear, well-supported credit recommendations and present in loan committee meetings
• Monitor borrower performance through periodic financial reviews, borrowing base and covenant tracking
• Partner with relationship managers on deal structuring, pipeline management, and client meetings
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market, economic, and industry conditions affecting credit quality
• Ensure timely completion and tracking of required credit-related follow-up items in bank systems
