Information Systems Technician II – Security Engineering

Location-Remote

Job Summary
The Information Systems Technician II – Security Engineering supports the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of information security systems and technologies. The role helps protect IT infrastructure, systems, and data by identifying security issues, supporting security controls, and responding to incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security systems, alerts, and events to identify potential threats.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of security tools, technologies, and controls.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot security-related incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Assist with vulnerability scanning, remediation, and security assessments.
  • Support endpoint, network, firewall, antivirEDR, and access security solutions.
  • Review security logs and assist with identifying suspicious activity.
  • Assist with incident response, containment, and recovery activities.
  • Maintain security configurations, documentation, procedures, and technical records.
  • Support user access reviews, account security, and security policy enforcement.
  • Coordinate with IT infrastructure, network, application, and service desk teams on security issues.
  • Assist with security patching, hardening, and configuration management.
  • Support security audits, compliance requirements, and risk-management activities.
  • Stay updated on emerging security threats, technologies, and best practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior IT/security staff when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, networking, operating systems, and access management.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, EDR/antivirus, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, or IDS/IPS.
  • Basic knowledge of incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional IT teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security, CEH, or equivalent are an advantage.
