Tier 3 Network Lead INFORMATION SYSTEMS SOLUTIONS, INC Tier 3 Network Lead Washington, DC Description The Tier 3 Network Lead serves as the senior technical authority responsible for the availability, performance, reliability, and operational integrity of the Museum's wired, wireless, WAN, Internet, and associated network infrastructure. The position provides advanced network administration, engineering, monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and Tier 3 escalation support across Museum campuses, regional offices, cloud connectivity, and external service-provider connections.
The Tier 3 Network Lead is responsible for maintaining stable network operations, proactively identifying performance degradation, coordinating service restoration, and providing technical leadership for network incidents, changes, upgrades, and projects. This position is 100% onsite. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical leadership and Tier 3 support for the Museum's wired and wireless enterprise network.
- Maintain operational integrity and performance of LAN, WAN, Internet, Wi-Fi, and cloud-connectivity services.
- Install, configure, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain Cisco switches and routers.
- Administer and support Aruba wireless infrastructure and Aruba Central cloud management.
- Monitor network availability, bandwidth utilization, latency, jitter, packet loss, throughput, interface status, and device health.
- Diagnose and resolve complex routing, switching, WAN, wireless, connectivity, hardware, and performance problems.
- Apply firmware and software updates to network switches, routers, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.
- Maintain network configuration standards and technical documentation.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, wireless RF maps, circuit documentation, provider information, and configuration records.
- Support network architecture, design, capacity planning, coverage planning, implementation, and continuous validation.
- Define and monitor network performance standards for speed, availability, latency, and other operational metrics.
- Coordinate WAN and Internet circuit installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and service restoration with telecommunications and Internet service providers.
- Own and track third-party network-provider incidents through restoration and Root Cause Analysis.
- Support Metro Ethernet, Internet links, WAN connectivity to cloud services, and other provider connections.
- Support Museum Distributed Antenna System (DAS) operations and coordinate troubleshooting with vendors.
- Assist with new infrastructure projects, network upgrades, equipment deployments, and technology-refresh activities.
Requirements Clearance Level: None Required Certification
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Expert-level knowledge of enterprise routing and switching.
- Demonstrated senior-level experience administering Cisco enterprise network infrastructure.
- Expert-level experience with SolarWinds Orion or comparable enterprise network-monitoring platforms.
- Experience configuring SolarWinds alerts, dependencies, thresholds, and performance monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, switching, WAN technologies, DNS, network security, and enterprise connectivity.
- Experience administering enterprise wireless infrastructure.
- Experience with Aruba Central and Aruba enterprise wireless technologies.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN, wireless, Internet, latency, routing, packet-loss, and connectivity issues.
- Experience coordinating telecommunications carriers, ISPs, and third-party vendors during service outages.
- Experience with Wireshark and advanced network troubleshooting tools.
- Experience performing network capacity planning, architecture support, and performance analysis.
- Strong incident-management, Root Cause Analysis, technical documentation, and customer-communication skills.
- Ability to support critical infrastructure in a 24x7x365 operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cisco networking certifications beyond CCNP.
- Aruba networking/wireless certifications.
- SolarWinds certification or demonstrated advanced administration experience.
- Experience supporting AWS/cloud network connectivity.
- Experience with Cisco Nexus and ASR platforms.
- Experience with TACACS+ and enterprise network access-control technologies.
- Experience operating within ITIL/ITSM service-management environments.
