Warringu is an Aboriginal Community Controlled, not-for-profit organisation governed by a community Board of Directors. We provide specialist services supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence and homelessness across Cairns and surrounding regions, including Yarrabah, the Atherton Tablelands, Cape York and the Torres Strait.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Network Engagement Coordinator to join our projects team.
About the Role
The Network Engagement Coordinator supports the Regional, Remote and Indigenous Women's Shelter Network to stay connected, strengthen collective practice, respond to sector changes, and access practical supports that help shelters improve service sustainability and outcomes for women and children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence. The role works closely with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders to identify member needs, support recommissioning and compliance readiness and ensure network priorities are reflected in the Shelter Services Hub and related capacity-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
- Act as the central point of contact for the Shelter Network, building on established relationships and maintaining strong, consistent communication across members and stakeholders.
- Coordinate key network forums, including Shelter Leaders meetings, Yarn Ups, Lunchbox Sessions and Shelter Leaders Forums, ensuring they focus on priority issues and lead to clear actions.
- Support meaningful two-way engagement between shelters and government/sector stakeholders, helping share member insights and connect services to the right supports.
- Support the network to prepare for sector changes, particularly recommissioning, by helping members understand requirements and coordinating access to relevant support.
- Facilitate access to practical resources, training, and guidance that support members to meet compliance and quality requirements (e.g. HSQF, Child Safe Organisation Standards).
- Support the network to develop workforce capability to meet shelter objectives and sector requirements, including identifying common needs and connecting members with appropriate training or partners.
- Contribute to organisational priorities in alignment with role scope, strategic objectives, and capacity.
- Undertake additional duties as required by Leadership and contribute to the team particularly when aligned with the responsibilities and priorities of the role.
About You (Selection Criteria)
- Strong relationship and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations, remote services, government and sector partners.
- Experience coordinating networks, forums, meetings or communities of practice, including agenda planning, facilitation support, action tracking and follow-up.
- Ability to translate complex policy, funding, compliance or sector information into plain English, practical resources and clear next steps for busy services.
- Understanding of domestic, family and sexual violence service contexts, preferably including regional, remote and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community contexts.
- Experience supporting organisational capability building, such as training coordination, needs assessment, policy/template support, quality improvement or compliance readiness.
- Strong planning, prioritisation and delegation skills, including the ability to coordinate workloads, allocate tasks appropriately, and stay focused on agreed priorities.
- Confident digital literacy, including ability to use Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint and online meeting tools, and willingness to support member adoption of the ShelterServices Hub.
- Culturally safe, respectful and trauma-informed communication style, with the ability to listen deeply and work effectively with members.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in the health or social sciences field, or relevant sector experience.
- Current Driver's License.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check - QLD) or exemption. National Police Check (issued within the previous 3 months of commencement).
