Quick Overview
Job Description
WE’RE HIRING , sort of….
We’re looking for a Social Media & Marketing Lead in the UK or US (or anywhere on Earth) who wants to help us build very serious businesses with very unserious people.
Here’s the situation:
Creators have spent years building audiences most brands would be desperate for.
Then they decide to launch something of their own and suddenly they’re expected to understand content, growth, paid acquisition, funnels, CAC, attribution, conversion rates and approximately 47 Meta dashboards.
That’s where we come in.
Dead Serious is a creator business studio.
We partner with creators to turn audiences into actual businesses - apps, platforms, Shopify stores, AI products and whatever other mildly ridiculous idea we collectively decide needs to exist.
We handle the strategy, product, design and build.
You make sure people actually know we exist.
WHAT YOU’D ACTUALLY DO
First and foremost: help us build Dead Serious on social.
Come up with ideas. Make the content. Get behind and in front of the camera. Post it. See what happens. Work out why it worked (or spectacularly didn’t). Change the strategy. Do it again.
Build an audience of the right people, not just a large one.
Understand what makes people stop scrolling, what makes them care and what makes a brand feel like something they actually want to be part of.
Make content that doesn’t look like it came from a marketing department.
And as we grow, your role will too - campaigns, launches, email, newsletters, brand, the businesses we build with creators and eventually whatever other marketing shit needs doing.
You’ll work directly with our founders.
The goal is that, slowly but surely, you own this side of the business.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You have an actually impressive portfolio of things you’ve made and audiences you’ve helped build (or a terrible portfolio).
You have actual experience creating content and building audiences - whether that was for a brand, a creator, a project or yourself.
We mean receipts - we want to see your videos (or something else that's cool).
AND, most importantly, you’re in love with being in front of & behind the camera.
You understand social media deeply enough to know when the textbook answer is the wrong answer.
You understand internet culture. You understand creators. You understand that something getting 400,000 views means very little if 399,000 of those people couldn’t give a shit about what we’re building.
You don’t need to know everything. Neither do we.
But you should know this better than we do.
And ideally, you get slightly overexcited by a ridiculous idea and permission to own it.
We want someone who gives a shit.
Someone who sees something underperforming and wants to know why.
Someone who sends the group chat an idea at 11pm because they can’t stop thinking about it.
Someone we can trust enough that, eventually, you don’t need 14 approval meetings, a 63-page brand manual and someone asking whether you’re “good to post.”
We’re not looking for a marketing robot.
We’re looking for a partner.
THE SLIGHTLY IMPORTANT PART
This is not currently a salaried role.
Worth reading that again.
We’re very early, and we’re looking for someone who wants to build this with us rather than clock into a normal marketing job.
The initial structure is based on a small percentage of the value/revenue we create together, with the opportunity for that ownership, responsibility and upside to grow as Dead Serious grows.
So if you’re looking for a guaranteed monthly salary right now, this isn’t the role for you.
But when something we build becomes very big, you’re not standing on the sidelines with a monthly payslip thinking cool, glad I helped with that.
You helped build the value - you participate in the value.
And if this goes where we think it can, this role has the potential to grow into leading marketing at Dead Serious.
STILL HERE?
Good sign.
Don’t send us a beautifully formatted CV telling us you’re “results-driven.”
Show us the thing you’re ridiculously proud of.
The account you grew.
The content you made.
The campaign that worked. Or the one that didn't work and how you fixed it.
The weird idea everyone thought was stupid until it wasn’t.
Tell us what it was. What you did. What happened.
Then tell us why Dead Serious.
Not why you want a marketing job.
Why you want to build this.
And why you think you’d be a dangerous industry disruptor with a camera & Dead Serious behind u.
Subject line: let me in rn.
Let’s build something stupidly profitable.
