Job Role:
The Senior Auxiliary Engineer will support the design, integration, and technical assurance of various auxiliary systems across a complex marine platform. They will apply deep expertise in system performance, capacity assessment, and optimisation to deliver robust, compliant, and customer focused solutions throughout the shipbuilding lifecycle. The role ensures high engineering standards by driving improvements to processes, supporting technical investigations, and providing evidence-based decision making. Strong marine/auxiliary systems experience is essential to ensuring system reliability and capability across the platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing specifications, develop Stage 1 Auxiliary System design solutions in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards.
- Support and participate within the Zonal Integration process ensuring 3D model design reflects design intent and achieves compliance to relevant quality, standards and requirements.
- Participating in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
- Carrying out specialist technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
- Support the Principal engineer as the specialist point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility.
Key Attributes:
- Degree qualified in an engineering or other related discipline, although not essential.
- Experience in engineering or a defence related industry, and or Oil & Gas, Nuclear or Building Services.
- Knowledge and experience of shipbuilding, Operations processes and modern build strategies.
- Knowledge of processes and tools used in Marine Engineering.
- Experience with supplier & customer engagements.
- Experience writing technical specifications.
