Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer Controls to support the development of next-generation vehicle features and software systems. This role is responsible for leading system-level feature development from concept through production launch, ensuring seamless integration between hardware, software, electrical systems, and customer-facing vehicle functions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Systems Engineering, Automotive Electrical Systems, Software Development, and Technical Requirements Management with hands-on experience using Python, GitHub, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.

 

Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering & Architecture

  • Design and develop vehicle feature systems using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Create and maintain system architectures, network topologies, wiring diagrams, power distribution schematics, and block diagrams.
  • Allocate system features and functions to meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Develop innovative solutions for complex vehicle systems and emerging technologies.

Feature Development

  • Lead feature development activities throughout the complete product lifecycle, from concept through production.
  • Define feature upgrade and migration strategies.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment for feature implementation and deployment.

Requirements & Documentation

  • Develop and maintain:
    • Functional Requirements
    • Feature Specifications
    • Implementation Specifications
    • Verification and Validation Plans
  • Prepare Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) documentation.
  • Conduct Functional Safety and Cybersecurity assessments.
  • Ensure requirements traceability and compliance throughout development.

Software Development & Integration

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions using Python and other relevant technologies.
  • Support integration between software, hardware, and vehicle electrical systems.
  • Utilize tools such as GitHub and requirements management platforms.
  • Resolve technical issues and support feature validation activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with software, hardware, electrical, mechanical, and HMI teams.
  • Work with suppliers and stakeholders to evaluate and implement advanced technologies.
  • Lead technical reviews and trade-off discussions.
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions effectively across organizations.

 

Required Skills

Systems Engineering

  • Strong experience in Systems Engineering within automotive, embedded, or related industries.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Understanding of:
    • Vehicle Electrical Architecture
    • Network Topologies
    • Wiring Systems
    • Power Distribution
    • Electrical Modules
    • Body and Chassis Systems

Technical Requirements

  • Experience developing:
    • Functional Specifications
    • System Requirements
    • Feature Requirements
    • Verification Plans
  • Knowledge of:
    • Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA)
    • Functional Safety
    • Cybersecurity Assessments
    • Requirements Management

Software Development

  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Python
    • GitHub
    • Software Testing and Validation
  • Familiarity with Gherkin or similar requirements/documentation frameworks.

Automotive Systems

  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and features.
  • Experience with CAN Communication and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of software and hardware interactions within automotive environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s Degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Related Engineering Discipline
  • 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master''s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Automotive Engineering experience.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering V-Model.
  • Knowledge of:
    • DFMEA
    • Boundary Diagrams
    • Special Characteristics Documentation
    • Quality Engineering Processes
  • Electrical Design & Release (D&R) experience.
  • Electrical testing and validation experience.
  • Experience progressing products from concept through design, development, testing, integration, and launch.
