About The Role Peraton is currently seeking a Mid-level SQL Database / Systems Administrator for our Federal Strategic Cyber programs to manage and optimize our database infrastructure.

Location: On-site, Washington DC In this role, you

  • Need to have strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup strategies.
  • Have experience with Apache NiFi for data flow automation and integration.
  • This hybrid role combines core DBA responsibilities with system administration tasks, requiring a solid understanding of both data and systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases (2016+).
  • Monitor performance, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
  • Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments.
  • Ensure database and system security through access controls and auditing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database and server issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and best practices.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree.
  • SQL Server database and systems administration experience.
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, query optimization, and database design.
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server administration.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with backup tools, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS.
  • Experience using NiFi for ETL workflows.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.

Details Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
