Job Description

General Laborer – Metal Recycling Facility

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our team at a metal recycling facility. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, outdoor environment where employees play a key part in sorting, processing, and handling scrap materials. We are willing to train the right candidates—no prior experience required.

Key Responsibilities:

Sort various types of metal into designated areas (boxes, tubs, and assigned locations)

Assist with unloading customer materials and incoming trucks

Support weighing of materials (training provided; experienced team members will assist until you are confident)

Perform general labor tasks including bending, lifting, and moving materials

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Follow all safety procedures and guidelines

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently

Frequent bending, lifting, and physical activity throughout the day

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Heavier materials will be handled with equipment when necessary

Schedule:

Monday – Friday: 7:45 AM – 5:00 PM

Saturday: 7:45 AM – 12:00 PM (rotated when possible)

Closed Sundays

Occasional overtime (typically up to 30 minutes) may be required based on workload

We do our best to maintain scheduled end times; however, flexibility is appreciated when customers are still on-site.

If a scheduled Saturday is an issue, accommodations can be discussed in advance.

Pay & Breaks:

$15.00 per hour

30-minute paid lunch break

Additional time taken beyond 30 minutes will be automatically deducted

Employees are allowed to leave the premises during lunch

Qualifications:

Previous general labor, construction, or industrial experience is a plus

Knowledge of ferrous vs. non-ferrous metals is a plus, but not required

Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, or bobcats is a plus (not required)

Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

Requirements:

Steel-toe boots required

Long pants (jeans or work pants recommended – will get dirty)

T-shirts are acceptable (no profanity or inappropriate graphics)

Hard hats and additional PPE will be provided if needed
