Job Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Data Engineer to support a large-scale Data Modernization Initiative (DMI). This role involves building and maintaining a consolidated Enterprise Data Platform using modern cloud tools and re-platforming existing business data applications. The platform supports epidemiologists, public health researchers, and state officials in analyzing public health trends and driving policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based data management systems and end-to-end data pipelines
• Implement data pipelines across centralized and decentralized (Data Mesh) architectures
• Ensure data security, governance, and compliance with applicable policies including HIPAA
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders to architect scalable, high-availability cloud data solutions
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud products and services for data storage and processing
• Monitor and optimize cloud data platform performance
• Establish and document best practices for data modernization efforts

Required Skills

• 5+ years designing and developing data pipelines, cloud data architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL
• 3–5 years developing cloud-based solutions on AWS
• 5+ years with cloud database platforms such as Snowflake
• 3–5 years with Informatica (IICS) ETL, GitHub (CI/CD), and Airflow (orchestration)
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Unix/Linux, and shell scripting
• Strong knowledge of decentralized data architectures including Data Mesh
• Experience with large, multi-terabyte enterprise data platforms
• Familiarity with HIPAA and data privacy controls
