Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Systems Engineer to join a leading engineering team supporting large-scale, complex facility and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in telecommunications systems design, structured cabling, and industry standards, with the ability to lead telecom design efforts across multi-building projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred (Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience considered)
• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications systems design and construction
• Strong experience designing structured cabling systems
• Hands-on knowledge of TIA standards and BICSI design practices
• Solid understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements
• Experience leading telecommunications design projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
• Experience developing and reviewing design and construction specifications
• Knowledge of telecommunications system startup, commissioning, and testing
• Experience estimating design efforts and project scheduling for large, multi-phase projects
• Proficiency with Bluebeam
• Experience with Navisworks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• BICSI RCDD certification
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• BICSI OSP and/or RTPM certifications
• Project management experience
• Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and BIM environments
• Experience in semiconductor, mission-critical, or large industrial facilities
• Experience designing Outside Plant (OSP) and backbone distribution systems
• Knowledge of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Emergency Responder Radio Systems
• Experience performing quality assurance reviews of telecommunications designs

Key Responsibilities

• Lead telecommunications design activities for large and complex infrastructure projects
• Design structured cabling, fibre optic, OSP, and backbone distribution systems
• Develop communication room layouts, rack elevations, cable schedules, and telecom infrastructure drawings
• Coordinate designs with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Ensure compliance with NEC, TIA, BICSI, and applicable industry standards
• Prepare construction documentation, specifications, and design packages
• Support commissioning, startup, and construction activities
• Interface directly with clients and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle
