Job Title: AWS Data Engineer (Apache Iceberg)

Location: Remote (USA)
Job Type: Full-Time (FTE) / Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer with strong expertise in Apache Iceberg to build and optimize modern cloud-based data lakehouse solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing scalable data pipelines, implementing Iceberg tables, and working with AWS analytics services to deliver high-performance, reliable data platforms.

Required Skills
  • 8+ years of Data Engineering experience
  • Strong experience with AWS (S3, EMR, Glue, Athena, Lambda, IAM)
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg in production
  • Strong expertise in Spark / PySpark
  • Python programming
  • SQL (Advanced)
  • Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Data Lake & Lakehouse architecture
  • AWS Glue Data Catalog
  • CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Git and Agile methodologies
Preferred Skills
  • Apache Hudi or Delta Lake

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines on AWS.
  • Build and optimize Apache Iceberg tables for analytics workloads.
  • Implement high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines using Spark and PySpark.
  • Optimize partitioning, compaction, and query performance.
  • Work with S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, and Redshift.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, security, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Business teams.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve platform reliability.
  • Follow DevOps best practices for deployment and automation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of Data Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of AWS Data Engineering.
  • 2+ years of production experience with Apache Iceberg.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
