Job Description

Senior Project Engineer

Finlay Jude Associates are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and infrastructure contractor for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join a major water framework delivering non-infrastructure projects across North & East London.

Contract and Permanent available

Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll take ownership of the design, construction, commissioning and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex, high-value water industry projects while driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Coordinate design, construction and commissioning activities across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead design coordination meetings and work closely with supply chain partners.
  • Support procurement activities, including tender evaluations and subcontractor management.
  • Oversee day-to-day site activities, resolving issues and escalating where required.
  • Monitor project costs, risks and change, working closely with the commercial team.
  • Prepare pre-start documentation and maintain project records.
  • Promote innovation and identify opportunities to improve project delivery.
  • Champion high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven project engineering or project management experience within engineering or construction.
  • Experience delivering projects under NEC3 contracts.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or construction-related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and health & safety legislation.
  • Experience delivering mechanical engineering projects, ideally within the water sector.
  • Mechanical bias with experience managing subcontractors and chemical dosing systems.
  • Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, delivery-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
  • Water industry non-infrastructure experience.
  • Primavera P6 experience.
  • APMP qualification (or equivalent).
