RESPONSIBILITIES
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Structural Building Engineer in Jacksonville, FL.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural engineering and design efforts for complex building projects across aviation, aerospace, federal, healthcare, life sciences, and commercial markets. This role will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support projects from planning and design through construction administration.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with significant experience designing building structures, leading project teams, and delivering innovative solutions for technically challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for commercial, aviation, aerospace, federal, healthcare, and science-related facilities
- Serve as the technical lead on major projects and provide engineering guidance to multidisciplinary teams
- Prepare and oversee structural calculations, engineering analyses, reports, specifications, and construction documents
- Develop and review construction documents using Revit and structural design software
- Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other project disciplines
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, project planning, and proposal support activities
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration efforts
- Perform quality control reviews and ensure technical excellence across project deliverables
- Conduct field observations and site visits to verify design intent and support project execution
- Mentor junior engineers and review work products for technical quality and accuracy
- Support project scheduling, scope management, and overall project delivery
- Maintain knowledge of current structural engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 7+ years of structural engineering experience within the building design industry
- Experience leading portions of large projects or managing multiple moderate-sized projects
- Strong understanding of structural design codes including ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and related standards
- Experience reviewing technical work and providing mentorship to junior engineers
- Proficiency with Revit and structural analysis/design software such as ETABS, RAM, Enercalc, or similar platforms
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and client relationship skills
- Ability to independently solve complex engineering challenges and make technical decisions
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting aviation, aerospace, federal, healthcare, life sciences, or commercial building projects
- Previous experience serving as a technical lead for multidisciplinary projects
- Strong construction administration and field observation experience
- Experience participating in client presentations and business development activities
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams and mentor developing professionals
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
