Job Description
Experience level: 12+Years of experience
Position Summary
- The Senior FICO Analyst is the functional owner of SAP Financial Accounting and Controlling design and configuration for the ARC program. This role translates finance and accounting requirements from Controllership, FP&A, Tax, and Shared Services into scalable S/4HANA solutions, and is accountable for the integrity of the financial data model as Oncology and Multi-Specialty entities are brought onto the enterprise platform.
- Success in this role requires deep hands-on SAP FI/CO configuration capability paired with genuine accounting judgement — the ability to sit with a controller, understand why a close step exists, and then build it correctly in the system.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Configuration
- Own end-to-end design, configuration, and unit testing across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Bank Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, and Profitability Analysis (CO-PA).
- Configure and maintain the S/4HANA Universal Journal data model, including ledger setup, document splitting, parallel currencies, and account determination logic.
- Design and govern enterprise chart of accounts, cost element, profit center, and WBS structures; drive harmonization of legacy structures onto the enterprise template.
- Author functional specifications for interfaces, conversions, enhancements, custom reports, validations, and substitution rules; partner with ABAP and integration teams through build and deployment.
Business Partnership & Process
- Lead requirement-gathering and fit-to-standard workshops with Controllership, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Shared Services stakeholders; challenge non-standard requests and steer toward clean-core solutions.
- Document as-is and to-be process flows, gap analyses, and design decisions; maintain the functional design repository for audit and knowledge transfer.
- Support intercompany accounting, allocations, period-end and year-end close configuration, and month-end close acceleration initiatives.
- Data, Controls & Compliance
- Partner with the data workstream on financial master and transactional data mapping, cleansing rules, conversion logic, and reconciliation of converted balances.
- Identify, configure, test, and document SAP application controls in compliance with SOX; support internal and external audit requests and remediation.
- Ensure capitalization, expense treatment, and project accounting configuration align to McKesson financial policy.
- Delivery & Support
- Own functional defect triage and resolution across SIT, UAT, and hypercare; drive root-cause analysis rather than symptomatic fixes.
- Build and deliver end-user training material, job aids, and knowledge transfer to run-state support teams.
- Mentor junior analysts and offshore team members; review their configuration and documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or equivalent experience, and typically 7+ years of relevant SAP FI/CO experience. Less experience required with a relevant Master’s qualification.
Critical Skills
- 7+ years of hands-on SAP FICO configuration experience with at least two full-lifecycle implementations, including a minimum of one S/4HANA project.
- Demonstrated depth in GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cost Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, and CO-PA.
- Working knowledge of S/4HANA finance architecture: Universal Journal (ACDOCA), Central Finance concepts, New Asset Accounting, and Advanced Financial Closing.
- Strong understanding of integration touchpoints to MM, SD, PP, and to Ariba, Concur, Workday, and Fieldglass.
- Solid grounding in US GAAP, financial close mechanics, intercompany accounting, and SOX-relevant application controls.
- Proven ability to write clear functional specifications and to partner effectively with technical and offshore delivery teams.
Additional Skills & Knowledge (Preferred)
- ECC to S/4HANA conversion or greenfield migration experience.
- Exposure to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), BPC, Group Reporting, or Hyperion.
- Experience in healthcare, distribution, or other high-volume, multi-entity environments.
- Familiarity with acquisition or divestiture integration onto an enterprise SAP template.
- Agile / SAFe delivery experience; SAP FI/CO certification.
- Working knowledge of Planview, Fieldglass, JDE, or FDP.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus.
