Senior Azure Engineer (SRE / DevOps)

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Azure Engineer to own production applications end to end — taking full responsibility for the health, scaling, security, and deployment pipelines of live cloud systems. The ideal candidate brings deep, comprehensive knowledge across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and a proven track record maintaining high-availability production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Operations & Application Management

• Manage end-to-end operations, reliability, and performance for critical production applications on Azure.
• Monitor system health, availability, and application performance via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for troubleshooting complex production infrastructure and application issues.
• Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) investigations post-incident and implement preventative fixes.
• Optimize cloud performance, architecture efficiency, and resource utilization to control running costs.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Architecture

• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Manage core compute and networking components: AKS, Azure App Services, VNets, ExpressRoute, and Load Balancers.
• Define, configure, and routinely test disaster recovery (DR), failover strategies, and backup solutions.

CI/CD & Automation

• Architect, maintain, and optimize secure CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Automate release processes to eliminate manual errors and enable zero-downtime deployments.
• Write robust automation scripts for repetitive operational and maintenance tasks.

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Implement cloud security guardrails using Azure IAM, RBAC, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Securely manage secrets, keys, and certificates with Azure Key Vault.
• Maintain security posture using Microsoft Defender for Cloud and enforce compliance policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 7+ years of infrastructure or DevOps experience, with 3+ years dedicated exclusively to managing Azure production environments.
• Advanced hands-on experience with AKS, App Services, Azure SQL / Cosmos DB, Networking (VNets, NSGs), and Azure Storage.
• Expert-level proficiency with Terraform or Azure Bicep.
• Strong background configuring and troubleshooting pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Deep familiarity with telemetry, log aggregation, and intelligent alerting systems.
• Preferred: Microsoft Certified – Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
