Are you an experienced Employee Relations professional looking for your next contract opportunity within the NHS?
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established NHS Trust in Sussex for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join their People team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact, providing expert ER support across a diverse workforce in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
The Role Working as part of a supportive HR team, you will provide high-quality, practical advice and guidance to managers on a broad range of employee relations matters. You will manage your own caseload and help ensure cases are handled fairly, consistently and in line with NHS policies, employment legislation and best practice.

The Role Working as part of a supportive HR team, you will provide high-quality, practical advice and guidance to managers on a broad range of employee relations matters. You will manage your own caseload and help ensure cases are handled fairly, consistently and in line with NHS policies, employment legislation and best practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a varied caseload of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, capability, performance management, dignity at work and flexible working cases.
- Advising and coaching managers through formal and informal employee relations processes.
- Supporting investigations, hearings and appeals, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with employment law.
- Working closely with Trade Union representatives to resolve employee relations issues effectively.
- Providing advice that balances organisational needs with a positive employee experience.
- Supporting the wider HR team with policy implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases within the NHS or wider public sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
- Experience advising managers across a wide range of HR and ER matters.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to prioritise a busy caseload and work independently.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
- 6-month fixed-term contract.
