Job Description

I'm currently supporting a global technology organisation that is looking to hire several Backend Software Engineers to join a newly formed team working on a greenfield insurance platform.

This is an opportunity to join a highly scalable, product-led engineering environment where you'll be building new services from the ground up using modern cloud technologies.

Contract Details

  • Initial 6-month contract - high chance of extension
  • 523 per day (Inside IR35)
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 2 days per week onsite in Manchester
  • Multiple positions available

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs
  • Build insurance offer, eligibility and configuration capabilities
  • Integrate with a range of internal platforms and services
  • Take ownership of services throughout the full development lifecycle
  • Improve system scalability, reliability and performance
  • Monitor and optimise production systems through SLIs and SLOs
  • Investigate and resolve issues across customer-facing and internal systems
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams and business stakeholders
  • Contribute to technical design and architectural decision-making

Requirements

  • Strong commercial backend software engineering experience
  • Experience building scalable, high-volume distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based development environments
  • Ability to work independently and contribute within a collaborative team
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in modern product engineering organisations
