About the Role

We are executing a complex Figma design system migration moving a large, interconnected Figma environment from one enterprise account to another. The work involves shared libraries, component hierarchies, and a token architecture managed through Token Studio.

We are seeking a Figma specialist with deep design systems expertise to lead this effort. You will be embedded with our design team, working hands-on through every phase of the migration. This is not a generalist design role we need someone who operates at a technical level within Figma and understands how shared libraries, components, tokens, and publishing workflows function at scale.

What You ll Do

Design Systems & Library Work

  • Audit Figma workspace files and map shared library dependencies, component references, and token connections across Patterns, Recipes, Templates, and working files
  • Lead the duplication and restructuring of the Foundations library into a brand-specific version, removing non-applicable assets while maintaining component naming integrity
  • Execute Figma s Swap Library feature across the full file set to reconnect components after the Foundations library is migrated to the new account
  • Identify and manually resolve components that cannot be automatically matched during the swap (including renamed, deleted, or structurally changed assets)
  • Validate the published state of all Patterns, Recipes, and Template libraries post-migration to ensure downstream files receive updates correctly
  • Document all library decisions, known gaps, and structural changes for the broader design team

Token & Variable Work

  • Set up Token Studio in the new Figma account and connect it to a brand-specific token set
  • Validate that all token connections remain intact post-migration (colors, typography, spacing, and component-level tokens)
  • Identify and resolve broken or mismatched token references across migrated files
  • Ensure the token architecture supports a scalable, independent design system

Migration Execution

  • Conduct an early proof-of-concept: duplicate a low-complexity team, transfer it to a test workspace within a sandbox environment, and replicate the process for a library file; document findings before full migration
  • Coordinate with organizational admins for team-level transfers to the new enterprise account
  • Execute the migration in a sequenced manner that minimizes disruption to active design work
  • Perform full QA on the migrated environment prior to handoff, ensuring no broken references, missing libraries, or disconnected tokens

What You Bring

Required

  • Expert-level Figma proficiency, including deep understanding of files, libraries, components, variants, and publishing workflows
  • Hands-on experience managing or rebuilding shared Figma libraries, with a strong grasp of dependency propagation and failure points
  • Strong knowledge of design token architecture, including structure, mapping to Figma variables and styles, and validation
  • Experience using Figma s Swap Library feature in production environments
  • Ability to audit large, complex Figma ecosystems and independently identify structural dependencies
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to high-volume, high-impact work
  • Strong self-direction with the ability to execute independently from a brief

Strongly Preferred

  • Token Studio experience (setup, configuration, multi-brand token systems, and Figma variable integration)
  • Experience with Figma Enterprise administration (org settings, team structures, seat management, library permissions)
  • Prior experience with design system migrations, brand splits, or Figma organization transitions
  • Familiarity with multi-brand design systems and how shared foundations are extended into brand-specific implementations

Bonus

  • Proven experience migrating Figma environments across enterprise accounts
  • Knowledge of Figma plugins related to library management, bulk operations, or token tooling
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical decisions to design leadership

Context & Environment

  • You will partner with internal design teams who remain active in production throughout the migration
  • Two additional Technical Figma Designers will join in Month 1 and continue execution through Month 3 you will help onboard and guide their work sequencing
  • The migration is time-sensitive and aligned with external deadlines
  • This role requires independent thinking we are looking for someone who can assess the environment, define the approach, and execute with precision
