Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Responsible for elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business requirements.
• Research and exploration of user requirements, costs, and benefits in support of documentation required for the demand management process.
• Responsible for analyzing the business needs to identify new processes and process improvements that will meet those needs.
• Documents current business processes and models to define requirements and/or gaps.
• Analyze detailed system factors including input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware, and software needs.
• Analyze “soft" system factors including roles, responsibilities, policy, culture, etc.
• Evaluate the impact of potential software and process changes on the organization.
• Develop and facilitate groups as necessary in pursuit of eliciting and defining requirements.
• Assist in the creation of the business case documentation.
• Understanding of architectural consistency and usability standards.
• Defines and develops user test cases and validates test results during testing.
• Executes unit and functional test cases.
• May conduct system demonstrations and training sessions, as well as participate in design/review of training content.
• Plays a third level support role by helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues with production systems.
• Participates in associate meetings and communicates any concerns to management.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or another related field or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience leading data migration requirements from legacy systems into a new ERP (Sage X3) environment
• Strong hands-on expertise in requirements elicitation, documentation, and management, with emphasis on data mapping, transformation rules, and validation
• Deep understanding of data structures, data quality, and migration best practices, with the ability to identify gaps and risks early
• Self-driven and accountable professional with strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to drive outcomes with minimal oversight
• Working knowledge of Confluence and JIRA.
• Experience in any of the following business areas is desired: Sales operations, order entry, accounting, finance, procurement, warehouse operations, order management, and order fulfillment.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ business analysis or systems analysis experience is preferred.
• Bonus: Sage X3 experience (ERP).

• Expertise in ERP solution selection and implementation is a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences in written and non-written format

• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic environment
• Ability to learn new systems and tools
• Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies, processes, and procedures.

Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

Location: Montreal, QC

Duration: 6 – 8 Months

 

Responsibilities:

Performance

Critical SQL queries, execution plans, indexing, stored procedures, functions, views, database objects, and application performance related to access and data backups.

Exploitation

Performance monitoring, capacity management, preventive maintenance, automation, incident management and problem solving.

Resilience

Backup, restore, high availability, business continuity and disaster recovery.

Security and Governance

Access and privilege management, data security, auditing, traceability and good governance practices.

SQL Development

SQL code quality, development standards, data access practices, quality reviews and controls.

 

Deliverables:

  1. Diagnostic Report
  • Detailed status of the targeted databases;
  • Technical findings;
  • Identified risks;
  • Prioritization of issues and recommended interventions;
  • Following the diagnosis, Client will determine with the Resource the optimizations that will be implemented during the mandate.
  1. Optimization Report
  • Performance analysis;
  • Detailed recommendations;
  • Priority optimizations carried out by the Resource or by the organization's teams with its support, according to the priorities agreed with the client; Expected benefits and, where possible, observed benefits.
  1. Governance and good practice recommendations
  • DBA best practices;
  • SQL standards;
  • Monitoring and observability recommendations;
  • Recommendations for operational management and maintenance of environments.
  1. DBA Operational Model
  • Evaluation of the different models that can meet the identified needs, including internal, external, shared, or hybrid DBA capabilities. Who could to understand:
    • Responsibilities of the role;
    • Required skills;
    • Recurring activities;
    • Interactions with the Product, Development, Operations, Architecture and
    • Security;
    • Capacity requirements.
  1. Roadmap
  • Priority initiatives;
  • Recommended investments or efforts;
  • Expected gains;
  • Residual risks;
  • High-level indicative roadmap.
  1. Knowledge Transfer
  • Knowledge transfer workshops;
  • Documentation produced;
  • Coaching sessions;
  • Recommendations for maintaining and updating knowledge.

 

The proposed resource must offer a phased implementation approach.

  1. the initial diagnosis;
  2. optimization work; the production of recommendations;
  3. knowledge transfer;
  4. production of the final report.

Requirements and qualifications

The mandate must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a university degree in computer science, computer engineering, engineering software, information technology or any other relevant discipline mandate;
  • Possess significant experience (5 to 8 years) in administration, diagnosis and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server environments;
  • Demonstrate, through a maximum of five (5) mandates completed during the five (5) last five years, significant experience covering the majority of areas:
    • administration and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server databases;
    • analysis and resolution of performance problems;
    • analysis, execution plans and indexing strategies;
    • high availability, backup, restore and disaster recovery;
    • monitoring and observability of database environments;
    • Governance, best practices and SQL standards;
    • support for development and operations teams;
    • development of strategic recommendations or roadmaps improvement;

including at least three (3) mandates involving mission-critical environments or with high availability.

 

The proposed resource will be considered an asset if it can demonstrate, in the within the framework of the five (5) mandates presented:

  • having participated in at least one mandate involving the evaluation of a model operational or organizational aspects related to database management or to platforms.
  • having supported managers or management teams in the prioritization of investments or improvement initiatives related to operations databases.
  • possess excellent analytical, popularization, and writing skills reports and recommendations intended for both technical teams and managers.
