Amazon's network is a key differentiator for Amazon Cloud Computing and Web Services (AWS), enabling the global operation of thousands of applications across millions of servers worldwide. The AWS Networking team develops and operates the network platform for all of Amazon including e-commerce products and cloud computing solutions. This platform is industry-leading for its efficiency, throughput and reliability, and it is critical to the success of hundreds of thousands of AWS customers.

We have developed and maintained a wide gamut of tools to help planning/scaling/operating our network seamlessly and automatically. We are now facing the next challenge: providing a software ecosystem capable of amalgamating all tools, operations, procedures in a single manageable, scalable, automated entity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help establish technical direction, foster team culture, grow junior engineers and deliver exciting features to internal and external customers.
  • Take end to end ownership of the software development life cycle, including design, testing, deployment and operations.
  • Be very hands on; work with the engineering team to manage day to day development activities by leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation.
  • Champion operational, technical and process improvements.
  • Work with your manager and other engineers in delivering to the roadmap.
  • Interact with customers to respond to queries, issues, and complaints.
  • Collaborate with other engineers towards broader organizational goals and projects.
  • Collaborate with product and program managers, principal engineers for feature definition and delivery.
  • Work with other AWS teams to build innovative solutions that create value for our customers, supporting them in their network deployment activities.
  • Contribute to technical designs.
A Day in the Life

You will have the opportunity to design and implement systems that delight our customers.

Technical Skills
  • Programming languages such as Python, Java, etc.
  • System design.
  • Rust (optional).
  • Network fundamentals.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
