The Federal Civilian business unit supports many customers spanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact.

Primary Responsibilities
Software Engineer III - Front End serves as an emerging technical leader within the engineering team. With limited guidance, you will own complex development efforts while mentoring other engineers, improving engineering processes, and helping ensure successful delivery across the program. Primary expectations include:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex user-facing applications using Angular, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript while promoting reusable, scalable frontend architecture
- Translate Figma designs into responsive, accessible interfaces using established Design System components while identifying opportunities to improve component reuse and consistency
- Lead development of reusable UI components and contribute to the evolution of the Design System across multiple applications
- Develop, maintain, and improve automated UI testing using Selenium, Cypress, or similar frameworks while helping increase overall test coverage and application quality
- Ensure frontend implementations meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and partner with UX and Accessibility teams to resolve complex compliance issues
- Estimate development work, participate in technical planning sessions, and contribute to architecture and design discussions with minimal guidance
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex production issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions
- Participate in on-call rotations and help improve application monitoring, observability, and operational readiness
- Mentor Software Engineers I and II through code reviews, technical guidance, paired programming, and knowledge sharing
- Drive improvements to engineering processes, coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and development best practices
- Collaborate with backend engineers, QA, UX designers, Product Managers, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle
- Participate in SAFe ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives
- Support recruiting efforts by participating in technical interviews and evaluating coding assessments
- Present technical solutions, implementation approaches, and lessons learned to internal engineering teams
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degree
- Must meet federal suitability requirements and successfully pass a background investigation as a condition of employment
- Advanced experience developing modern web applications using Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Experience implementing complex user interfaces from Figma or comparable design tools
- Experience building reusable component libraries and working within enterprise Design Systems
- Strong experience with automated UI testing using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and accessible frontend development practices
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services
- Experience with Git/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development workflows
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex frontend issues across development, testing, and production environments
- Experience mentoring engineers and conducting technical code reviews
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within Agile software development teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python-based backend services
- Experience contributing to frontend architecture and technical design decisions
- Experience optimizing application performance, accessibility, and maintainability
- Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications within AWS environments
- Experience working on large-scale federal or government technology programs
- Familiarity with SAFe Agile development practices
