Workday Orchestrate Architect - Remote
Quick Overview
Job Description
Job Title: Workday Orchestrate Architect
Location: Remote
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workday Orchestrate Architect to lead the design, development, and enterprise governance of our next-generation automated workflows and integration ecosystem. In this role, you will act as the primary technical authority for leveraging Workday Orchestrate alongside Workday Extend and the Workday Integration Cloud.
You will bridge the gap between complex enterprise business processes and technical execution-architecting real-time, event-driven orchestrations that connect Workday natively with third-party systems like ServiceNow, Okta, Jira, Salesforce, and external payroll platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Architecture & Technical Design
- Design and govern scalable, real-time, event-driven enterprise workflows using Workday Orchestrate and Workday Extend.
- Define technical patterns and criteria for when to deploy Orchestrate versus Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, or Enterprise Middleware (MuleSoft/Boomi).
- Create end-to-end technical architectural blueprints, sequence diagrams, and API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger) for cross-system integrations.
2. Development & Engineering Leadership
- Build complex logic paths, conditional branching, and custom payload mappings using the web-based visual Orchestration Builder.
- Implement real-time triggers using Workday Business Events and webhooks to drive immediate multi-system actions.
- Design resilient exception-handling mechanisms, including automated retry logic, alerting frameworks, and circuit breakers.
3. Security, Governance & Performance
- Ensure all orchestrations comply with Workday security standards, dynamic data encryption protocols, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- Optimize payload sizes, execution speeds, and tenant performance for both batch and high-frequency real-time transactions.
- Oversee environment migration strategies (Implementation Sandbox Production) and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Workday Technical Experience: 8+ years in Workday integrations/architecture, with at least 2 3 years dedicated to Workday Orchestrate and Workday Extend.
- Integration Expertise: Proven track record building enterprise integrations using Workday Studio, REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML/XSLT, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Security & Auth Standards: Deep understanding of modern authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, SAML, Mutual TLS, PGP encryption).
- Middleware Knowledge: Experience connecting Workday to enterprise iPaaS tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Workato).
Preferred Qualifications / Key Certifications
- Workday Integrations Certification (Required or strongly preferred).
- Workday Extend & Orchestrate Certifications (Highly desirable).
- Hands-on programming/scripting experience (Python, JavaScript, or Java) for custom data handling.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks.
