Job Description

Codurance is a global software professional services consultancy, helping clients continuously deliver value through the adoption of quality practices and technical excellence.

Software craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do. We build well-crafted software and help development teams get better at continuously delivering software through the application of extreme programming practices and software craftsmanship values.

In 2010, our founders started the London Software Craftsmanship Community (LSCC), now the largest and most active software craftsmanship community in the world, with more than 5,500 developers. Codurance was founded in 2013 and has carried that same community spirit ever since.

This is an initial 6-month contract, inside IR35.

Day rate: £600 - £650 day (inside IR35)

About the role

Our client is a fast-growing, well-funded technology company operating a financially critical platform used by a global customer base, processing significant transaction volumes every month. Their engineering teams solve genuinely hard problems at scale, and they're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Go) to join one of their core product teams.

This isn't a "ticket-taker" role. Senior Software Engineers here are expected to take initiative, owning problems from initial concept and scoping through implementation, rollout, and ongoing support. You'll work as part of a small, high-trust team, collaborating closely with Product, Data/Analytics, Risk, Platform (SRE), and other engineering teams to ship things that matter.

If you want to work on high-throughput, high-reliability systems, with real ownership and real impact, this is a strong next step.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, highly reliable systems that power core parts of the platform.
  • Lead the implementation of key features end-to-end, from concept and planning through to monitoring and ongoing improvement, with a strong bar for correctness and precision.
  • Architect solutions that scale as transaction volumes and customer numbers grow.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, and help set the engineering standard for the team.
  • Lead design discussions and architecture decisions, balancing short-term delivery against long-term sustainability.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data, Risk, and Operations to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Shape product direction by contributing technical insight, trade-offs, and delivery estimates.
  • Partner with Support and Operations teams to investigate and resolve production issues.
  • Mentor other engineers and lead technical planning for team initiatives, levelling up engineering practice more broadly.
  • Help shape team and engineering culture, this is a role with influence beyond your immediate codebase.

What we're looking for

  • A development background with Go.
  • Experience designing and building systems that handle high traffic at scale in a cloud environment (AWS).
  • A strong understanding of the full development lifecycle, design through deployment, maintenance, and what that means day-to-day.
  • Solid grasp of API design principles and best practice.
  • A track record of bias for action and strong customer focus.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to work through complex, ambiguous problems while balancing progress with rigour.
  • Genuine enjoyment of cross-functional collaboration and a proactive approach to improving code and team process.

Everyone should have the right to bring their whole self to work and be celebrated for who they are. Our people are hired purely on their commitment to these values and their ambition to deliver outstanding results for our clients. Codurance is proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace.
