UAT Business Subject Matter Expert Tester
Our client is seeking an experienced UAT Business Subject Matter Expert Tester to support a large-scale healthcare technology modernization initiative focused on implementing a new marketplace platform. This individual will partner with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors to ensure system functionality aligns with business requirements, regulatory expectations, and operational processes. The ideal candidate combines deep User Acceptance Testing expertise with strong healthcare marketplace knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to drive successful testing efforts in a collaborative Agile environment.
UAT Business Subject Matter Expert Tester Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end User Acceptance Testing activities, including test planning, test case development, execution, defect validation, and release readiness for complex healthcare technology implementations.
- Analyze business requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria to create comprehensive test scenarios and maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Execute manual testing, document detailed results, identify defects, validate fixes, and support regression, integration, exploratory, accessibility, and performance-related testing efforts.
- Serve as a business subject matter expert by validating system functionality against operational workflows, healthcare marketplace policies, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional business, technical, and vendor teams to ensure testing activities support successful system delivery and operational readiness.
- Facilitate defect triage, assess business impact, prioritize issues, and provide recommendations to support timely resolution.
- Prepare and manage test data, validate testing environments, and contribute to overall UAT readiness across multiple release cycles.
- Mentor business users participating in testing by providing guidance, documentation, templates, and best practices for successful UAT execution.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, provide testing metrics and status updates, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance testing processes and collaboration.
- Partner with quality assurance and automation teams to identify opportunities for increased test automation and improved testing efficiency.
UAT Business Subject Matter Expert Tester Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 15+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, business analysis, or related technology roles, including extensive User Acceptance Testing experience.
- Strong knowledge of UAT methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and Agile/Scrum development practices.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and executing complex test cases, test scenarios, and traceability documentation.
- Extensive experience using defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Deep understanding of health insurance marketplace operations, including eligibility, enrollment, plan management, account transfers, and consumer support processes.
- Experience supporting healthcare marketplace or Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) implementations, including state-based marketplace environments and integrations with Medicaid eligibility systems.
- Strong understanding of Affordable Care Act (ACA) regulations, eligibility rules, enrollment processes, and related compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, security testing concepts, performance testing considerations, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective testing strategies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders in large-scale enterprise technology implementations.
- Familiarity with test automation concepts or frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Robot Framework is preferred.
- Experience preparing and managing complex test data and supporting broader quality assurance or business analysis initiatives is a plus.
