Job Description

We are currently partnering with our client to identify a talented german speaking Windows Engineer (m/w/d) in Bern.

This project is part of a large-scale digital transformation initiative supporting highly secure and mission-critical environments. The focus lies on the operation, stabilization, and continuous development of Microsoft-based platforms, including collaboration and messaging systems within a protected infrastructure.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of enterprise Windows environments, with a strong focus on Microsoft Exchange and automation practices. You will work in a collaborative setup alongside development and operations teams, contributing to the continuous improvement of platform services and processes.

Main Tasks

  • Operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Microsoft Windows and Exchange environments in a secure infrastructure
  • Administration and troubleshooting of Exchange services, including Mailflow, Transport, DAGs, OWA, MAPI, and Autodiscover
  • Management and optimization of Active Directory environments and related services
  • Ensuring compliance with security and data protection standards across all systems
  • Monitoring and performance optimization of Windows and Exchange servers
  • Automation of operational processes using PowerShell and DevOps tooling
  • Collaboration with development and operations teams to enhance platform stability and efficiency
  • Implementation and optimization of CI/CD processes and infrastructure automation
  • Contribution to the evolution of a secure private cloud platform and collaboration services

Your Profile:
  • Relevant education in Computer Science (EFZ, FH, HF, or University) or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong experience in Windows Server administration and Microsoft-based infrastructures
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server (administration, operation, and troubleshooting)
  • Hands-on experience with Exchange services such as Mailflow, DAGs, OWA, MAPI, ECP, and Autodiscover
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory, including Exchange-related components
  • Strong understanding of IT security and compliance standards (TLS, DKIM, SPF, DMARC, DLP, encryption, auditing, eDiscovery)
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation of operational tasks
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (firewalls, load balancers, security concepts)
  • Practical experience with automation and configuration tools (e.g., GitLab, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation (GitOps principles)
  • Fluent German (C2) and strong English (C1) required


Nice to Have
  • Experience with ITIL processes and monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix)
  • Knowledge of LDAP / SSO integrations
  • Experience with open-source mail gateways
  • ServiceNow scripting experience
  • Familiarity with agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe)
  • Strong team spirit, communication skills, and a proactive mindset
  • High level of discretion when working in secure environments
