Mechanical Engineer

Freelance Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Reading, Berkshire<br />3-4 Month Contract<br />Immediate Start<br />Competitive Day Rate We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join an established M&amp;E contractor on a live project in Reading. The project is a commercial property, and the position is expected to run another 3-4 months. This is a site-based role suited to a Mechanical Engineer with a strong building services background who is comfortable supporting the delivery of mechanical packages through the construction phase. The Role Working as part of the site delivery team, you will be involved in:

• Supporting the delivery of mechanical building services on site
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
• Coordinating mechanical installations with subcontractors and other trades
• Providing technical support to the site and project management teams
• Monitoring installation progress, quality and compliance
• Assisting with RFIs and resolving technical/site issues
• Attending coordination and progress meetings
• Supporting testing, commissioning and handover activities where required
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements About You We are looking for someone with:
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer / Project Engineer within the M&amp;E or building services sector
• Good knowledge of mechanical services including HVAC, ventilation, heating, chilled water, plumbing and associated systems
• Relevant mechanical/building services qualification – NVQ, HNC/HND or Degree level
• Valid CSCS card and relevant site certification
• Experience working for an M&amp;E contractor or specialist mechanical contractor
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently and deal with technical issues on site Previous experience on commercial, education, research, laboratory or technically complex projects would be beneficial but is not essential.
