Data Business Analyst

Talent Insights is looking to speak with experienced Data Business Analysts for one of our clients within telecommunications.

This is an initial 12-month daily rate contract, 3-days a week on site in Sydney.

The role will support a range of data, analytics and transformation initiatives, working closely with business stakeholders and technical delivery teams across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, pain points and data requirements
• Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and requirements gathering activities
• Translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, process maps and acceptance criteria
• Work closely with data engineers, analytics teams, product owners and delivery leads across the delivery lifecycle
• Analyse source systems, data flows and business processes to identify gaps, risks and improvement opportunities
• Support data mapping, data quality assessment and validation activities
• Assist with reporting, dashboard and analytics initiatives by defining metrics, KPIs and business logicContribute to backlog management, prioritisation and delivery planning within Agile environments
• Support testing activities including SIT, UAT and business validation
• Build strong stakeholder relationships across business and technology teams
• Produce clear project documentation including BRDs, process flows and operational impacts

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within data, analytics or technology environments
• Strong experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements
• Exposure to data platforms, reporting environments or enterprise transformation programs
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Experience working in Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments
• Ability to understand data structures, data lineage and business processes
• Comfortable working across both strategic initiatives and hands on delivery activities
• Strong problem solving and analytical thinking capability
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, SQL, Power BI, Tableau or similar is advantageous
• Experience within large enterprise or complex delivery environments is highly regarded
