Contract: Initial 6-month contract + 2 x 6-month extension options

Security Clearance: NV1 Clearance Required

Citizenship: Australian Citizenship Mandatory

We are seeking an experienced Solution (Identity) Architect to join a large-scale Federal Government environment and provide expert architectural leadership across complex identity and access management ecosystems.

This role is suited to a highly skilled architect with extensive experience delivering enterprise-grade Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions. You will play a key role in shaping identity strategies, driving secure and scalable solution design, and ensuring alignment with security, privacy, operational and government compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and evolution of enterprise digital identity, authentication, authorisation and account management solutions.
  • Develop and maintain architecture artefacts including solution architectures, high-level designs, integration patterns, architecture decision records and technical roadmaps.
  • Provide architecture governance, assurance and technical leadership across project and operational initiatives.
  • Define and promote architecture standards, solution patterns and non-functional requirements including security, resilience, scalability, availability and supportability.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams, developers, operational support teams, security specialists, vendors and business stakeholders.
  • Assess solution options and provide recommendations balancing business outcomes, risk, cost, maintainability and user experience.
  • Support procurement activities, project planning, estimation and architecture reviews.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, security frameworks and government standards.
  • Identify technical risks and contribute to mitigation, operational readiness and transition planning activities.
  • Support successful transition of solutions into business-as-usual operations.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience as a Solution Architect or Identity Architect within large and complex enterprise environments.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing IAM and CIAM solutions.
  • Strong experience delivering secure authentication, authorisation, federation and customer account management capabilities.
  • Proven expertise with cloud-based identity platforms, Microsoft identity technologies and modern authentication frameworks.
  • Experience producing architecture artefacts including solution designs, integration designs and architecture decision records.
  • Strong architecture governance, assurance and design review experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working within Agile and multidisciplinary delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, compliance and risk management within regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across projects, operational teams, vendors and senior stakeholders.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines.
  • Architecture certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.
  • Identity and Access Management certifications.
  • Experience working within Australian Government environments.
  • Knowledge of government security frameworks and digital identity requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Microsoft Entra ID
    • CIAM platforms
    • OAuth 2.0
    • OpenID Connect (OIDC)
    • SAML
  • Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation and identity modernisation programs.
