Job Description

Lead Firewall Engineer | Alexandria, VA, United States | On-site | $131,300.00 - $237,350.00 This employer is seeking a highly skilled Lead Firewall Engineer to join a critical program supporting a significant government agency. They are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of network security. This is an opportunity to lead a team and significantly impact the security posture of a vital infrastructure. The Role • Design, implement, and manage complex firewall solutions using Cisco ASA/Firepower, Juniper SRX, and Palo Alto. • Monitor firewall performance and security logs to identify and mitigate potential threats. • Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures, and perform system audits. • Serve as a People Leader for personnel supporting the Firewall Task Area, providing guidance, performance assessments, and coaching. • Collaborate with other IT, Security, and Network teams to ensure seamless integration of firewall solutions. • Troubleshoot and resolve network and firewall-related issues, ensuring prompt documentation within ticket systems. What You'll Need • BS degree and 12+ years of directly relevant experience, or equivalent military/work experience. • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI (active TS/SCI preferred). • DoD 8570 IAT II or higher certification prior to start. • Juniper, Cisco, or Palo Alto certification prior to start. • Demonstrated experience in managing firewalls within a DoD environment and implementing perimeter and internal firewalls. • Advanced experience managing baseline configurations and evaluating rules for maximum security and efficiency.
