Job Description: SAP BTP DMS Data Archiving Consultant (SAP GTS)

Location: Addison, IL (Hybrid)

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP BTP DMS Data Archiving Consultant to lead SAP GTS data archiving initiatives using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Document Management Service (DMS). The consultant will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, and implementing enterprise archiving solutions that optimize database growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and support long-term data retention and retrieval.

Required Experience :

  • 10+ years of SAP experience
  • 3+ years of SAP Data Archiving / ILM project experience
  • Hands-on experience with SAP GTS and SAP BTP Document Management Service (DMS)
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP RISE environments preferred
  • Strong background in large-scale Data Volume Management (DVM) initiatives

Key Responsibilities :

  • Analyze SAP GTS data growth and identify archiving candidates for Data Volume Management initiatives.
  • Define archiving, retention, and residence policies with business, legal, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Design and configure SAP GTS archiving solutions using SAP BTP Document Management Service (DMS).
  • Configure archiving objects, variants, content repositories, retrieval mechanisms, and SARA administration.
  • Implement archival processes for SAP GTS objects, including /SAPSLL/SPLAT, CHANGEDOCU, and other high-volume transactional tables.
  • Develop Technical Design Documents (TDD), Functional Design Documents (FDD), and enterprise archiving strategy documentation.
  • Execute archive, write, store, delete, retrieval, validation, and reconciliation processes.
  • Support unit testing, integration testing, UAT, defect resolution, production deployment, and hypercare.
  • Coordinate with SAP Basis, Security, Infrastructure, and Business teams during implementation and cutover.
  • Perform production readiness activities and provide knowledge transfer to AMS support teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-billion record archival projects
  • SAP Data Volume Management (DVM) optimization expertise
  • Knowledge of compliance, legal retention, and information lifecycle management policies
  • ABAP Data Dictionary knowledge and SAP HANA performance optimization
  • Strong stakeholder communication and documentation skills
