IT Technical Writer (TS/SCI Clearance) with Security Clearance

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an IT Technical Writer to support mission-critical communications and technology initiatives. This role will develop and maintain clear, accurate, and mission-aligned documentation that enhances operational readiness and supports evolving technical landscapes. This position will be onsite in Newington, VA !

Responsibilities of the IT Technical Writer include: • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and military personnel to translate complex technical processes into clear documentation • Develop and maintain user manuals, system guides, and SOPs for mission-critical systems • Identify gaps in existing documentation and resolve communication challenges impacting operational efficiency • Operate in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance with Army and DoD standards • Utilize tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio to produce high-quality deliverables • Ensure adherence to MIL-STD and DoD documentation guidelines Required Qualifications for the IT Technical Writer: • Minimum of 5 years of technical writing experience in IT, cybersecurity, or defense environments • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat • Experience with SharePoint and content management systems • Familiarity with DoD documentation standards • Ability to interpret and translate complex technical information into clear, concise documentation • Strong understanding of version control and document lifecycle management • Excellent grammar, formatting, and editing skills • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance Compensation for the IT Technical Writer includes: • Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000 depending on experience • Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, Paid Time Off, and Federal Holidays This job opens for applications on 7/16/2026.
