Job Overview

The Network Support Engineer will deliver Level 2/3 and advanced technical support for data networking, security, and wireless solutions. The position is located in Wollongong/PortKembla and requires on site field service, on call support, and the use of a personal vehicle to access the steel plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve Level2/3 network, security, and wireless incidents.
  • Participate in an after hours on call roster for on site customer support.
  • Escalate complex issues to vendors and manage resolution within predefined time frames.
  • Design, install, and test customer network solutions, collaborating with project managers and cross disciplinary teams.
  • Conduct site surveys, product audits, and wireless deployments.
  • Provide remote and on site technical support for maintenance contracts and T&M services.
  • Attend internal CAB meetings, Customer Technical Review Board (TRB) sessions, and incident conference calls to update stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, call logs, and weekly summary reports.
  • Support presales activities, including scoping, quoting, and technical presentations.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5years of experience in a technical support or incident management role focused on Cisco networking products.
  • Critical Certified Cisco CCNA in Routing and Switching and/or Security.
  • Experience with Cisco Wireless, DNAC, ASA/FirePower, F5 LTM, and outdoor wireless products.
  • Solid understanding of network security, firewall technologies, and SD WAN.
  • Experience within ITILv3 service management framework.
  • Strong customer facing communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple incidents, and maintain high service level commitments.
Education & Certifications
  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (highly desirable).
  • Relevant Cisco Routing and Switching or Security certifications.
  • Wireless certifications and ITIL process training or certification.
Additional Information

Experience in operational technology (OT) networks, wireless security, and mission critical environments is highly valued. A flexible schedule, field service readiness, and a personal vehicle are required for this role.
