And that's where you come in.Job Description:Senior Software Configuration LeadHitachi Rail Australia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Configuration Lead to support major rail programs across NSW, including Sydney Metro West and future national projects. This long-term role will drive technical leadership in software configuration, cloud-native development, and deployment of Hitachi's Alvea platform and associated business applications.About the roleIn this key technical position, you will lead software configuration, integration, and deployment activities across complex rail programs. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams to ensure smooth implementation, minimise reliance on overseas product teams, and help build long-term capability within Australia.What you'll doLead software configuration for the Alvea platform and related applicationsSupport delivery for Sydney Metro West and future projectsProvide expertise across software architecture, DevOps, configuration frameworks and cloud-based solutionsOversee CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and version controlTroubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple systemsCollaborate with local and global teams to ensure consistent technical deliveryContribute to system design, UX considerations, and continuous improvement initiativesWhat you'll needStrong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skillsExpertise in software configuration, software architecture & DevOpsProficiency in multiple programming languagesKnowledge of RabbitMQ or similar message brokersStrong understanding of protocols such as OPC-UA, SNMP, Modbus TCPExperience with cloud-native software development and deploymentBasic knowledge of containerisation technologiesStrong knowledge of CI/CD techniques and version control systemsLinux operating system experienceCloud technology knowledgeUnderstanding of UX and Design Thinking principlesExcellent problem-solving skillsHighly desirable: Prior experience with Hitachi software configurationThank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
